Queen of the South F.C.

Queen of the South Football Club is a Scottish professional football club formed in 1919 in Dumfries. The club plays in Scottish League One, the third tier of Scottish football. They are traditionally nicknamed the Doonhamers but are more usually referred to as Queens or QOS. Their home ground is Palmerston Park.

The club won the Division B Championship in 1950–51, the Second Division Championship in 2001–02 and 2012–13, and the Scottish Challenge Cup in 2002–03 and 2012–13. Queens led Scotland's top division until New Year in the 1953–54 season: their highest finish in Scotland's top division was fourth in 1933–34. The club reached their first major cup final in 2008 when they reached the final of the Scottish Cup, where they were runners-up to Rangers. The club's manager is Marvin Bartley.

Παραδείγματα από το σώμα κειμένου για Queen of the South
1. Incidentally ‘Sandy‘ – as I affectionately knew him – took an interest in Scottish football and supported Queen of the South.
2. The road is mentioned in the Bible, stating that the "Queen of the South" traveled on the "Gold and Incense Road" to meet King Solomon in Jerusalem.
3. In a case of life imitating art, Spanish writer Arturo Perez–Reverte presaged the trend in the drug trade in his 2002 bestseller "Queen of the South" –– a meticulously researched novel about fictional Mexican drug magnate Teresa Mendoza.
4. It has to be said that the Scottish results as read out by James Alexander Gordon on Saturday evenings are more colourful and evocative than the English ones, since Scotland has a collection of teams with names that reflect their history rather than their location (Heart of Midlothian, Hibernian, St Mirren, St Johnstone, Queen of the South) as well as a couple of Thistles and an Academical; though sadly now no Third Lanark (an abbreviation for the Third Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers). The English league long ago lost its Trinity (Gainsborough) and its Ironopolis (a Middlesbrough side), and most of the off–beat names – Blyth Spartans, Barnt Green Spartak, Shepshed Dynamo, Mole Valley Predators, though not yet Maidenhead Metatarsals are way down in the minor leagues.
